This is my latest "love" - have it almost daily and find it absolutely delicious.
I learnt it off my 9 year old grandson who always has it when he sleeps over every second weekend.
Toast the bread and butter thickly so that it melts into the toast - then add a bit of Vegemite - not a lot and voila!
DELICIOUS - great snack - has to be pure, real butter though.
Finy, We always buy the 600gm Vegemite, as it's better value than the smaller jars. When there was a 900gm jar, we used to buy that 1. I still have my last 900gm jar! (Washed out of cause,) but I couldn't make myself throw it out, because there won't ever be any more of that size being made! Yes rye bread/toast is nice isn't it?
Butter is lovely....but for us, toooo lovely. So we had to cut it out :(
I have toast & Vegemite every day, usually on a slice of light rye toast, but sometimes on a Sao for lunch with a slice of cheese.
..."Every day for breakfast", I meant to say.
i also have it on rye! yummm
I like very much cold toast, butter (not melted) and a bit of Vegemite.
Totally yum, but sadly we only ever have butter 1-2 times a year.
It has been banned from the house for 363 days of the year. For the last 15 years.
I buy it once in winter.
We love the stuff too much, sadly.
what is wrong with butter? is a natural product?
I second that and so do my doctors and dietician. They have realised that they have been wrong about pure fats. I have butter, macadamia oil and olive oil on their advice.
So sad . . .you're so right. Butter is sooooo yummy. However . . . my son in law (diabetic) lives on butter, fats, green veges and proteins only and is now slim fit and healthy and his doctor is ecstatic and has approved all his food. He has also taken him off medication.
Oh wow! that's amazzzing Rice :)
I just WISH that I had his willpower. *boohoo*
other way around. i like minimal butter & thick V or P. everyone i ever met who witnesses says the amount i have is revolting. try it on crumpets. delish!
Yes Simon, yummy on crumpets & also nice on muffins, & white bread, when I used to buy white bread.
Different to Finy and Bryony, I like Promite . . . .but like jonaja, I like my toast a little cooler so that the butter stays chunky. Mmmmm. However, it's another thing I don't eat anymore :(
I know Rice.....but we LOVE the stuff (butter) so we had to bite the bullet, big time. :(
I like Promite too. SEEMS to be not as salty. Yep, very nice.
I love butter and vegemite on toast, really fresh bread, Ryvita or other crispbread. When I was a child I often ate butter and vegemite on Saos. Yum. These days I rarely eat butter even though I love it. I have read so much contradictory information about whether butter is bad or not. I also like Marmite, Mightymite and Promite but Vegemite is my favorite yeast spread..
Old Dutch proverb . . . Eat butter first, and eat it last, and live till a hundred years be past.
For me it is a simple as . . . evil marketing over the years vs. the fact butter is pure and clean. My doctor and dietician only promote butter, olive oil and nut oils.
