Yes, I had one myself (an accidental free birth, we planned on having a midwife there but she didn't quite make it in time so I caught my own baby) and it was wonderful. I have a few friends who had home births too.
Yes, one of my daughter's in law had a home birth.
I would never have it as I find it risky if something goes wrong and you need a doctor in a hurry however it seems to be becoming more and more popular nowadays.
I know several women who have had homebirth and I am also in several homebirth groups. I am planning a homebirth for my next baby after 2 traumatic hospital births.

My gran, I'm sure, gave birth to at least one of her children at home.
I know many women who have had homebirths. So much so, I forget that it is not the most common way to have a baby. It is so normal to me.
