Do you have long, or short, or strong fingernails?

Mine are unfortunately short, and break as soon as they get just a bit longer.

They are "wafer thin" despite my drinking a lot of milk and other calcium related foods.

I keep mine short, for practicality and cleanliness. Although I like long nails on others, I personally find them a bit uncomfortable.

Despite having bitten my nails till they bled until I was 15,my nails ended up being extremely long and strong!.My mother had the most elegant hands and nails so I do believe I have her to thank for my own. It was only in the last few years that my hands and nails took a downward spiral thanks to a severe arthritic disease.Now I cannot even wear any jewellery or nail polish,but at least I can tap out a reply to these questions!

You are so Sweet to see what is to me the important issue! I do miss my lovely hands and nails,but the main thing is that I can still use what I still have! Thank you so much Finy.

Mine are short but neatly so...I don't bite them and never have. I find keeping pale polish and then a hard coat over the top on them protects them and they are quite strong luckily. For a few years I had false nails as my hands are on show in my job in the public eye, however now I just do them myself which is good enough.

When I was in High school I kept them long, but after a science student friend of mine told me of the amount of bacteria under her nail that she saw under a microscope, I started keeping them short.

I try to keep my nails short but they are extremely strong and grow very quickly, so it takes a long time to cut them and they are long again within a couple of days! It's quite annoying. I have better things to do with my time than constantly cutting nails.... it's genetic though, and connected to having strong teeth which I am pleased about so I can't complain too much :)

My nails don't grow like they used to. They split and chip which is frustrating. I used to have beautiful long, strong nails that I could wear nail polish on but now I just use clear nail polish. Would love to have nice nails again!

I've suffered with short, weak, flaking nails for years. I have other health issues as well. My Doctor put me on to hair, skin& nails supliment. I've now got nails like steel. Improving my psoriasis, and hair.

kayea -what is it called -assume it is a herbal one -as I also have psoriosis -wonder if it is connected to thin flaky nails?

Hi finny, 10 days ago I had serious spinal surgery. Normally my psoriasis would be quite flaired at this time. Its the best it been for more than a decade. I've been taking the supliment brand of natures bounty.Doctor put me on to iherb they have great supliment, reasonably priced.

kayea -I had a bad accident some years ago and was in hospital about 4 weeks -on pethidene or similar -oxycntin all the time -my psoriasis disappeared completely for many months -assumed it was the pain killers.

I like short fingernails. Yes they are strong.

i have very strong nails i try to keep them at just the end of my fingers or just a little longer , all my life I have used scissors to cut them never a file.

Long.I feel very uncomfortable when my nails are too short. I don't know how strong they are though as they tend to crack if they are too long.

Me too Helga. Because they are so long, I find if I paint them they look fake.

Very long, very strong. Something happened when I was about 17 and they went rock-hard. I get them (and good teeth & hair) from my Dad's side. My Mum hates me 'cos hers are thin and horrible! Thanks Dad!
