I still have carpets in my three bedrooms and like carpet in bedrooms as I like to step out and feel carpet instead of hard floors.

I also have a lovely rug in the main living area covering the tiles.

I get these cleaned usually every year and they come up so nicely though I will soon have to replace the carpet in my bedroom. No idea how they can do this due to heavy furniture in there.

I have very little carpet in my home any more as it is much easier for me to deal with rugs on my tiles and Polished floors here in North Qld.
I share with 3 dogs and they can be quite the messy children, so I need everything to be as easy as possible because I have a rare form of arthritis which I have suffered with since childhood. My rugs get dry cleaned when necessary
We have carpets and rugs and we have them dry cleaned. We used to have them steam cleaned but they were remianing wet for way too long.
We have carpet but because we are rented accommodation we haven't had them cleaned

I don't like fixed carpet...I like the idea of rugs, so they can be cleaned out the back with the hose, in very hot weather.

I also give them(cleaned) to Op shops, after 2 years, I love the idea of change on the floor.

We don't buy huge ones, and normally only spend $150 for both.
I have fairly new carpet throughout my villa, haven't had it cleaned as yet

I am once again blissfully living in a house with wall to wall carpets in nearly every room! It was one thing I really didn't like about living abroad - carpet was a rarity there and we had hard floors everywhere. Cold, noisy and oh the dust bunnies that built up!
We had our carpets professionally cleaned before we moved in and will probably have them done again in a year's time. Meanwhile my cleaner gives them a pretty good going over every week.
I don't bother so much with cleaning rugs - they get beaten and hoovered but not deep cleaned. They get worn out and thrown away instead!
I carpet-sweep manually, & have professional cleaners' come in approx every 8-12 weeks'.

I have several rugs on polished wood floors. I had them cleaned professionally once and had to sign a form saying basically the company was free of any retribution if anything went wrong. My rugs took a long time to dry and smelt bad after a while. I was so annoyed but felt I had given up my right to complain. The company phoned me about a year later to see if I wanted them to return and I told them what had happened and that there was no way I would pay them to do that again. I was told I had had every right to complain at the time, but that it was too late now.
When the rugs became smelly I bought myself a decent carpet cleaner and do them myself a couple of times a year.
