I admit it, I'm a recipe book tragic! Although I am getting better at NOT buying more! I tend to turn to taste.com.au if I'm looking for a recipe these days but still buy the Super Food Ideas magazine - it's my little monthly great!

Do you have a large recipe book collection that's rarely used?

I rip recipes out of magazines and keep only the ones I really think I'll cook.

No. I got rid of almost all of mine last time I moved house. Mostly I prefer to find recipes online.
We have a large collection of recipe books, as friends and family know that my husband enjoys cooking so he often gets them as presents. He will spend hours reading them, but only seems to cook a small number of recipes from them! I rarely use a recipe of any sort when cooking, so they just take up space so far as I'm concerned....
They do take up a lot of room, Verity. That's partly why I don't buy them anymore.
Same here. Also, if I look for recipes online I can read the comments of other people who tried the recipe, along with suggested changes, and I can look things up by ingredient (eg. look in my fridge and see we have a lot of carrots and look up recipes that would use them up rather than have to buy things to make up the ingredients needed in the recipe book).
When I buy a recipe book (which is not very often). I will read it once, write down the recipes I like on a piece a paper, making all the adjustments I want for my personal preferences, and then not look at the recipe book again.
I don't use recipe's.
But,I want too see if I can get into a few, maybe on the Internet.
Easy as, and saves money on buying them. :)
Yep, the internet's great for recipes and if you don't like the end result you just delete it and try another one!
Exactly :)

There are several recipe books at my house but its my wife who uses them from time to time.
I LOVE recipe books and magazines. I have a massive collection, but I haven't added (much lol!) to it in years. I still pull them out to double check a recipe or for inspiration when I'm meal planning.
Glad I'm not the only one, Lizzi
What a good question!
I am addicted to recipe books.

I work in an Op shop, rather volunteer, and i just cannot resist recipe books though have vowed I will not buy one again.

This temptation is just too great for me as I love looking through them and I then mark which ones I want to make!

I need to live for another 30 years to make all the ones that are marked.

AND I live on my own and cook these exotic meals most night!

yes I do have a large collection going rught back to mrs beatons cook book
Guilty as charged and to ripping out recipes I think I'm going to make but would probably need to live another 100 years to even make a dent in the pile.
I've a V E R Y large Recipe Book Library!

2/3 Conventional, & 1/3 Microwave.
I just love looking through them, as I still obtain inspiration from them!
Don't cook as much as used to up to the last 15 years', or so, as did much 'entertaining' of friends', & husband's work colleagues, from here, & overseas.

My books' will go to my Head Chef son.

Yes, heaps of them, but I can't make my self take them to the op-shop or throw them out. I mostly look up recipes on line every day, as i only make the same recipe once a year, & date them all.

I have a huge library of cook books. I love them and often just go through one or some when I have the time. Some I can re-read from beginning to end more than once like one (700 years of English Cooking) - just fascinating. I too also do quick look ups on line. But there is nothing as good as reading my cook books, on a cold wet afternoon, to gain inspiration for a lovely dinner.
