Do you ever use a silly voice when talking to animals or babies?

I thought almost everyone does this?

I dont do it so much with babies, however definitely do it with my two dogs.

sometimes I stop and listen to myself and I sound absolutely ridiculous and get all embarrassed in case a neighbour has heard me.

On my morning walk I come across a lot of people walking their dogs and several of these people also talk in this silly, high pitched voice.

I knew a pair of twin boys who could only speak "baby talk" at age six because the people around them spoke to them like that. After seeing that I decided not to talk to little ones that way.

I do it all the time to dogs - I just can't help myself - they are too cute!!

All the time to Champers my cat....live alone with him and he is my darling! (well sometimes when he b..... eats his dinner and doesn't have me opening tins to his liking) Of course this is my fault I realize. When chicken is on the menu, I think he comes from 10k away!!!!

Don't know about 'high pitched' but my way of speaking to pets is different to way I spoke/speak to babies' &'children.

Most of the time I don't, but occasionally I will talk to my pets in a higher pitched voice. I don't use baby talk though.

O yes, all the time. My kids love this.I mostly use low voices though. They love the silliness of it all.

Absolutely!! Always!! They are my beloved Fur Babies and I believe that all my animal loving friends are exactly the same as I am in this area!! I sing to my girls as well,Bless their gorgeous hearts!!!

Yes, I will talk in a silly voice to my son, but I also speak to him properly as this is important for language development. I have heard stories about children developing difficulties with language as a result of having incorrect input from those around them.

To an extent to my cat, yes, like I'll say 'I loves you'. Incorrect grammar, but somehow trying to prove a point.

My Mother In Law used to talk to the dogs in a high voice where she elongated the sylables. Beee Jaaay dooo yoooo want your dinnee nowww.
I decided I would not go down that path. Sometimes I do use a high voice despite that choice if I I am playing with my dog. Usually she understands my normal voice. It is rare now but I also use a deep gruff voice to command her to leave something that might be dangerous or if I am cross because she has not obeyed.
As a girl I confused an aggressive dog by speaking to it in a high baby talk voice. It worked and the dog backed off and went home. I would try it again if the situation warranted it.

I do not talk to babies in a high voice. I also do not use baby talk or dumb nown my vocabulary when speaking with children unless it is obvious they do not comprehend. It is a wasted oportunity not to teach children as much as possible while their brains are hungry for information.

Of course I do. I do it as a habit plus you get their attention that way. My little grandson loves me talking to him and try to gurgle back and the dogs could listen all day and think they are so important and loved.
