Using either Cream of Asparagus, or Cream of Celery canned soups, add one can of FRESH full cream Milk, cook as usual, allow to bench top cool enough to then place in 'fridge.

Once cooled, add Sour Cream, & you've a lovely tasting cold soup. Perfect for a hot Summer's night.
I used to make it quite often when I was younger - it is so easy and ready in a few minutes depending on what sort you make.

They were always very nice however since being alone, I don't think I have made it once.

There are also many different varieties and they were great on a hot night before the main meal.

No, I never have.
I my book the words cold and soup don't go together.
Throw away your book, as you're limiting your enjoyable food options.............

I often used to make a delicious Gazpacho, which is a tomato based vegetable soup, often served in Europe. It originates in Spain and is utterly delicious and refreshing in summer! I haven't had it for a long time but now that I think of it again,it would be perfect for our hot weather here in the North!!
The funny thing is that I wrote MY reply long before a certain other person who left a very short answer!! Spelling is so important to me!! Plus I had a Spanish friend who taught me the recipe!! Ha ha ha!!

Funny I should see this question following eating a bowl of home made pumpkin soup. Hot pumpkin soup.....no - I'm not into cold/chilled soup and wouldn't be tempted to partake on the hottest of hot summer days. Not my thing, but thank you anyway.
No, I feel it's weird to have cold soup. I've always associated soup with comforting food during winter. Somethingn to keep me warm and snuggle in a corner with a book during a rainy cold weekend
I made cold soup once and only once.

I thought cold soup would be disgusting until I tried gazpacho, now I can't get enough of it and look forward to a cold soup as a midsummer treat.
Vichysoisse? Not for me!
Yes I made it for the first time recently and I really like it. I love hot soup in Winter and thought it was the only way to go, but a cold soup is just as filling and refreshingly satisfying.

Sometimes in the past I made hot soup and ate it cold the next day- but that is not the same. That was just convenience.
I've never made cold soup, but my husband & I choose lovely cold soups from the entree menu on our cruises. They're mostly made from fruit!
