yeah, when I have unplanned guests . When I know I am expecting someone, I clean it really well.

I rarely apologise as partly I don't care what other people think and partly I believe that others have to take the house as they find it!
But the other day a surveyor came round to take photos of the house before some construction work in the road outside and I found myself apologising as she kept having to avoid bits of lego and other trip hazards....

Truthfully, yes. However, I've come to realize that's it isn't practical to have a squeaky clean house with toddlers running around. So I don't feel so embarrassed now.

Yes; I find myself very worried about how people perceive me so I tend to explain why and give an excuse that the house is a mess on a particular day. I hate to be perceived badly.
