Man sleeping, morgueFile.

It can be very difficult to sit and listen to someone giving a long speech. Even if the content is good, the length of the presentation may cause one to doze off from time to time.
Has this ever happened to you? Do you ever fall asleep during long speeches?

Yes.
The worst is when you jolt, and wake from that 'micro sleep'...and you think people see you wake up.
That is very scary,and embarrassing.
Oh, Jonaj! Love the photo. Like Mother, like Son.......hilarious!

I'm mortified to admit that I've once fallen asleep during mass and once during a school assembly. To be fair, there were extenuating circumstances on both occasions.

Yes, long boring lectures. I used to work and study a few years ago. I would fall asleep, especially after lunch. I have notebooks with gibberish written in them.

Oh yes. I did it once whilst wearing soft contact lenses and when I woke up and tried to open my eyes...... I was screaming in agony! No disguising what had happened :(
Research has been done that proved that people can only concentrate for up to 40 minutes. Anything after that is wasted as you will have lost your audience. They might not be asleep but they will not be taking in anything you say. I take this as permission to stop trying to listen if anyone drones on for too long :)
I've never fallen asleep or dozed off before. I have sometimes zoned out though, and started thinking about other things.
I haven't but my husband does.
Yes I do fall asleep after listening to long boring speeches. Especially if the content is repetitive and truly uninteresting.
Very hard to stay awake during long-winded, boring talks etc etc etc.

It amuses me that folk pay a hefty amount of $$$$ for a concert, play, recital etc & promptly fall asleep! Had a woman doze off next to me & her head dropped across to my shoulder!

Only last Monday attended ACO 'Tribute to Gallipoli', & had a bloke in my row snorting/snoring, & he did this THREE times during very quiet times of Performance! Very disturbing to other patrons' & a waste of money for 'offender'.
No, I dont actually fall asleep at something like this even if I am tired.
And it is SO rude anyway.
