Do you ever enter competitions in magazines or supermarkets?

I used to buy a magazine that was full of competitions and I religiously filled many of them in each week, and not once did I ever get a prize.

Eventually I got sick of it and stopped buying the magazine.

I very rarely enter one of the supermarket competitions -in fact I do not remember when I last did.

I have an acquaintance who enters as many as she can find and she reckons she wins things, but it is very time consuming anyway, and not worth it most of the time.

If it is a prize draw where you just fill in your details then I might, but if it is something where you have to put in an actual effort, then no, because the chances of winning are too slim for it to be worth the bother.

Supermarkets, yes. Magazines no. I don't buy magazines. I think by the time you spend however much a weekly magazine costs, you could buy one of the prizes yourself.

I enter so few competitions as when I used to as a young person,I never won a thing! However,When I was looking after the young lad from next door in the school holidays,I took him to the shopping centre where he saw a super Multi-pack of Faber Castell colouring stuff as a raffle in the Chemist. While he was getting an ice cream I filled out an entry form without even telling a soul. Lo and Behold! I got a phone call the week after to say I had won this really great collection. I nearly fell off my chair,I was so surprised!!! But I have not entered another competition since! I just can't be bothered to tell the truth!!

From time to time I enter competitions found in magazines or at the supermarket. I have also entered competitions in newspapers and have won a prize here and there. I haven't won anything from a supermarket competition.

Aren't they just marketing ploys to get info . . . . .? I looked at a couple of competiton sites and steered clear as the sign up questions are too intrusive.

I've entered newspaper competitions and won prizes but most supermarket ones are really for time share so steer clear of these. Also have been lucky with raffles.

No. I hate the ones that start with..."Write in 25 words or less....." I won a few things when our local paper ran competitions years ago, but they don't have them anymore. Once, back in '71 or 72 I entered an AWW competition. The 3 other women in the office also entered. I won a beautiful big 'gold' box of Revlon products, which had 'inlays' for where each item laid, & they all won a bra each! Needless to say, they were not happy! I still have the 'gold' box in our spare room!

Now I just enter competitions on line, from the various NSW art galleries! Last week I won 2 tickets to the opera to see Madama Butterfly, at the Capital Theatre.
It was a wonderful production.
