I have my diet day once a week and I will sometimes eat a disgusting one minute Noodle soup or some such.
Absolutely nothing but salt in these.
The tins are not much better and I DO use them for cooking but not for anything else.

I used to eat them till I read what is in them, and now, if I want soup, I will make my own.

I always make my own soup... with one big exception....

.....Pea & Ham Soup.

It is a throw back to lunches at my grandparents place and it evokes happy memories.
No, I make my own soup. It just seems so much more natural
I never have tinned soup. I always make my own soups, as they taste so much nicer and fresher. In fact, I am making a soup at the moment !!! There are quite a few vegies cheap , so have taken advantage of that to make a yummy soup. As for Cup a Soups. I have them rarely. My dietitian says to have them sparingly, and if I do (can't remember the last time I did) to just have them as a snack. They are no where near adequate for a meal and are full of sodium, flavour enhancers, colours and other nasties.

We do.
I only have the chicken noodle soup salt reduced.
My son will have a can in cold months for his lunch, and its ok :)

We steer quite clear of the other packet soups, they are so full of yucky stuff, and salt!!
No.

Sometimes as a snack or if feeling unwell.
Maybe once a year I might eat a tin of soup and I never eat the powdered muck. I make my own soups and freeze it in portion sizes for myself - I am diabetic so I need to know what my food contains. As Finy has said, those soups are loaded with salt . . .and sugar too for that matter. I used to love tinned tomato soup as a kid but none of it tastes any good to me any more.

I have a couple in the cupboard, for emergencies, or if I need 1/2 a 1 for a recipe.

I've always got tinned Heinz tomato soup in my pantry as I make a meatball dish using it. Occasionally I will have this soup if I fancy something creamy made on milk, but for the most part, I make my own. I did have a great homemade soup recipe years ago using only fresh tomatoes and herbs but lost it and all recipes I can find use tinned tomatoes in them which I don't want. The only soup I don't make is pea and ham as my husband is the only one who eats it so he makes it the German way, as his mother taught him.
I had the same problem - lost my lovely italian tomato soup recipe. . . I think it's in the bowels of my old defunct computer :((( This one is pretty good. http://littlespicejar.com/secret-ingredient-tomato-basil-soup/

Thanks for that Rice. Will check it out.

Interesting recipe. Will definitely give it a go once tomatoes return to sensible prices.

No never. I make my own and have at least three different types of soup in the freezer.
Very rarely.

I make my own soup like chicken giblet soup and won ton soup for me and I make vegetable and barley soup for husband (by the cauldron).
I occasionally use tinned soups like "cream of" in cooking. I consume a packet soup very occasionally =Trident chicken noodle full of salt and heaven knows what else. That's it.
I have had tinned soup afew times, I like to have them on hand sometimes, just incase as a filler.
But other than that I like to make my own.
Never. Never. Never.
All soup in our household is made from scratch, save for miso soup which I will use miso paste to make the broth and add my own tofu, dashi and seaweed.
I regularly make soup from scratch. I love it and would make it all year if it was up to me.
In Winter I use a cup a soup( packet soup) sometimes for my own lunch or a very easy light dinner. I sometimes pour one over rice from the night before for a quick easy lunch. Sometimes I dice a tomato or slice up some mushrooms and some chives to make it a bit nicer.
Home made soup is always the best, however I recently tried the La Zuppa brand which is rather pricey but actually rather nice for a bought soup! I was VERY surprised! I guess that growing up in a household where EVERY thing was cooked from scratch, these other items are all a bit of a mystery to me.
Tinned soups are fairly disgusting but I do buy them for my mother as it is a quick ready meal for her. She lives alone and hates cooking so that is a reasonable stand by in her cupboard. When I make soup she gets a few for her freezer too.Tinned tomato soup has to be the worst flavour of them all! Just google a recipe and make an easy one, like the early Charmain Solomon one I have in the lovely old Belle Cookbook,.Leggos recipe has sone too but substitute for fresh tomatoes
You know I do but not the old traditional ones I am really into some of the natural soups which are lactose and gluten free and fortunately not taste free!
They are portable and tasty.
