Do you do your own house painting or get a painter in?

I have always done all the inside painting myself.
I was told

1.Get a Good paint.
2.Most important a VERY GOOD Roller.Like top of the range.
I found out the hard way, at first...but after those two rules, its dead easy.

Ceilings are fine, I do them using top of the range paint...easy.

We do it ourselves. I even painted our bathroom wall tiles as a stop gap until we can afford to rip them all out in a few years.

I pay for tradies when if i get it wrong it's dangerous or expensive to fix. But painting is really just about good and patient preparation-and tradies are expensive!

Inside - we always do it ourselves. Outside, well we have a 2 storey house on the side of a hill. Some bits we are doing ourselves to save money as house painting can be really expensive, but anything that involves great heights will be a job for the professionals. No way am I risking the safety of my hubby or myself by getting many feet up a ladder on the side of a hill.

No, I don't blame you for that -I wouldnot either!

I would not attempt to paint the house or any part of it myself as I have a problem doing the ceiling, and also think it is far better if a professional does it.
So, I would not do it myself. Have just had it done and they are so fast and did such a good job.

I've always rented until just recently so I was never allowed to paint. Now I have my own home it hasn't needed painting yet but we will be painting it ourselves when it does. I was sort of tempted to paint a room a diffrent colour just because I could, after so long never being allowed to change anything, but I haven't really had time for that.

DIY last time we painted. It sure was a process. Hubby used to be a house painter, so it went faster than it would have. Think next time we need to paint, I'll leave it entirely up to him though, he was so much faster than me!

Our house does need repainting, inside, but I would NEVER even try yo do it myself. My husband & youngest daughter did paint a couple of rooms many years ago, but we can't get it redone until ALL the junk is off the floors & frankly that will never happen!
