No I don't do crosswords regularly.
I do them mainly when I am at the hairdresser in magazines, however I do not get papers and do not particularly like doing crosswords, or should I say - my general knowledge is not very good and I do not get far with puzzles.
I really like puzzles but i have no time to do it. Moreover, since my first preference is chess I do that when I have a little down time.
I only like the 'find-a-word' ones.
I think it is important for anyone over 40 to do them, and it can even be on the computer.
I knew and old-couple who every day (in their 80's) would spend 1-2 hours during their day on a computer they had...crosswords and games.
I love these too . . . on paper though. I find them very annoying on the computer screen for some reason.
Jonaja, I also only like, 'Fine a Word' puzzles, & have just bought a new book of them, for our next cruise. (IF I get the paperwork done in time for my new passport.) We have a balcony room this time, so I can imagine myself sitting out there, staring at the waves on the sea days, doing my 'Find a Word' puzzles!
I need to do one soon, keep the grey matter going LOL
I love crossword puzzles and I do do them regularly. I am pretty good at them so it doesn't take me very long to complete them. I don't do the cryptic crosswords, but my mother does. I suppose that I could teach myself. It is something fun to do whilst eating breakfast , and it keeps me sharp. I do the big crosswords, not the little ones in the newspapers. Once you learn the clues, and you get some of the words, it soon becomes easier.
You sound like me . . on trains, in the air . . . I found five in my suitcases! LOL
Absolutely peas in a pod😊
I always have two or more books of cryptic crosswords on the go at once.
keeping the grey matter healthy :) good girl.
Yes. I puzzle books all over the house too. I even like to do them during the tv commercial breaks.
I used to do puzzles ALL the time, but these days I tend to read and research all my old book treasures! My hands do not like holding a pencil or pen for very long at all anymore, and I do not enjoy computer games/puzzles, so I find other ways to keep my mind working strongly!
I don't do crosswords regularly, but I may do other puzzles depends on my moods.
I love the ones in New Idea where they give you 3 letters and a corresponding letter and then you have to work out the words to complete the puzzle. I think that is more satisfying because you need a good grasp of words to do them. I've only had one I couldn't complete. I also do word search when I'm in an aeroplane and on holiday and the large crossword in New Idea as well. That's all I have time for during the week.
I like crosswords and word puzzles but I don't do them regularly
I've never been able to tackle crosswords. Just hopeless with them, but I do love 'find the word' puzzles. My 95 mother has never done x-words, but was always reading books & newspapers. She's had dementia for about 3/4 years now. My m//l is 93, & has done x-words for as long as I can remember, & she still has all her braincells!
i receive two newspapers every day. There are 2 small and one large crossword in one newspaper and one medium one in the other newspaper. I do all four every day. If I have to go out, I like to go out after I have finished them….if I have to go out before I have finished them, I get a bit grumpy. I personally feel they are a really good idea as far as "keeping your mind in order". But I love to do them with coffee as soon as I get up (particularly as I am now retired). Also love to do them on freezing cold, dark mornings. I'm just a sucker for X words I guess.
