There are currently only 3 programmes that I watch on free television and these are Dr Who, Homeland and The Good Wife.
However my very favourite at the moment is only on Foxtel and it is A Place to Call Home which is an EXCELLENT Australian drama which I love.
Also like the three on free TV but questions was ONE. There is very little else I watch apart from the ABC and SBS
Like Finy,I am a watcher of mainly SBS and ABC ,and also like Finy,I find it hard to choose just ONE program. Recently I have changed my channel habits just a little with the ratings season just about over, and I am enjoying 'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is' on 7TWO in the very early evening.
I used to adore Dr Who,but this last series has not really done much to rock my boat at all. Very sad really,as I would never miss a single episode in the past!! I have never been the most avid of Television fans, but it is nice to know it is there when I want to watch something.
JUles -didnt you like the last Dr Who -Peter Capaldi was absolutely brilliant -am on a group on Facebook and many are saying he is better than Tennant and Smith?! dont think anyone can be better than David Tennant -but this last episode got rave reviews by viewers
Sorry,I am not one of those viewers who raved about him! I just do not like his interpretation,no matter what other people think of him! Tennant was THE best, with Matt Smith second,as far as I am concerned, and Capaldi should have been eft out of the series altogether as far as I am concerned! I only kept watching because of Jenna Coleman's Clara!!! And now she is gone.....too sad!
Oh! Jules, Peter Capaldi is a brilliant actor! He's a huge canon of work!
Best Dr Who, IMHO, was Tom Baker, then Jon Pertwee.
We're all of differing opinions' are we not? That makes it interesting! Cheers!
I agree that Capaldi is a brilliant actor with an amazing cv,it is simply his interpretation of The Doctor which I am not fond of.I am not knocking HIM as an actor at all!!I can remember seeing him in guest spots in many of the major crime series back in the 80's when he was quite young, and his talent was obvious even then!!There was one episode of Waking the Dead which truly showed his talents. And of course,he was in films like Dangerous Liasons amongst others!!
Even now on ABC,he is in The Musketeers, though I believe that his character is to be killed off,as he cannot commit to both this and the Dr!
He is well-known for his comedic roles and has won awards aplenty for these as well.So No ! I am not disliking him per se,just his Dr Who interpretation!
Oh! Jules, he was in one of the 'Prime Suspect' (UK) stories'. He played a transvestite, who got killed for giving too much info on the 'baddie', the fabulous Ciaran Hinds.
If I can remember correctly, I think Daniel Day-Lewis was in same episode.
What I remember mostly was that it was just fantastic acting!
'gem' TV will be screening 'Prime Suspect' (UK), next year, as well as 'True Detective', 'Murdoch Mysteries' (Canadian), & more, as their UK Crime Drama continuation line-up! Yes! Hooray!
52 years of Doctor Who. That's a pretty strong favourite. I don't think I'll change :-))
I will confess to a Horrible Histories habit over the last couple of years, though.
That is just too,TOO funny!!! I have actually watched Horrible Histories with the 2 young boys from next door on many occasions, and it has me in stitches!!!
Nice to know I am not alone . . . . *-*
Escape to the Country is my favourite. I love seeing old places converted, whether it be a listed house, barn conversion or the like. And the countryside is beautiful.
Yep me too. And I like the one Original Design (or cloe to that title) about renovating very old homes and you get to know the history of the house too.
Spot on Fran. Yes, I like that one too.
have several, home and away sometimes miss an episode which does not matter , antiques road show, midsummer murders , rosemary and thyme , trouble is most good shows come on late at night
I guess that would be: Who Want's To Be A Millionaire, on Channel 9 at 5.20-6pm. the ABC shows, e.g. Prime Suspect, Midsomer Murders etc, I watch on iview some time before they finish on view!
