Nowadays it is, sadly, for comfort.
There was a time (or was that in another life?) that I chose because the heel was high and looked great, but now the main thing I need to worry about, having such a bad back, is that they are comfortable and will not damage my back further.
I believe all the high heels do not do anything good for our backs, but as teenagers and older, we do not seem to think that far ahead, or what might happen in 30 years time!
Comfort mostly. My job involves being out in nature most of the time, so it's runners or hiking boots. And if I am not out shooting I am on the computer and then it's fuzzy pink slippers for me.
Oh! Tracie, by 'shooting' do you mean with a gun or a camera?
Comfort! When you are on your feet all day,it is very important to take care of them! Mind you, these days you can find many very comfortable shoes which are also very fashionable.I like 'Orthoheels' and 'Homy-Peds',both of which look great while looking after my feet! Now that I am not working,I still wear these brands, whilst not on my feet any where near as much as I used to be. Even as kids,we were taught how important it is to have well fitted shoes, Leather has always been my material of choice,as it has natural 'give' and allows the feet to breathe. I have on special occasions bought totally gorgeous, dressy shoes, but worn them when I knew I would be sitting down most of the time!! One such pair was the most exquisitely hand beaded pair of mid height heels which I still own, though I shall never wear them again. They are such works of art that I cannot bear to ever part with them! And actually, not being way over the top in the height department, they were rather comfortable as well as stunning!
Mostly comfort. Although I splashed some money on some lovely looking shoes that are reasonably comfortable.
I do have comfortable shoes but I have bought more based in how they look as opposed to how comfortable they are
It depends. If they are for a special occasion, such as a wedding, then I go for looks. Otherwise, I go for comfort.
Comfort first, but I try to tick both boxes.
Mostly for comfort, but sometimes for style and special occasions.
Not sure if answer went, I agree with Finy

Mostly for good looks :-)
comfort. we rely on our feet to be able to walk,
so no high heels..
Definitely comfort at my age!
Comfort first ( ie flat) but still not ugly.
What are comfortable shoes???? LOL. Most comfortable shoes look like "granny" shoes. It is hard to find something to fit my very wide feet, boots are good and yes, love high heels but sadly, hardly wear them anymore.
I used to in my 20's,but not now anymore, I'm likely to fall and give myself an injury.
When I was younger it was always colour and style. I had that many pairs, including hand-made Joshua shoes but now I'm older and wiser, it's comfort first - always.
When I started cruising, I had about 15 pairs of different coloured non rubber thongs to wear with my outfits. (I didn't take all 15 pairs on each cruise!) I've never been 1 to wear high heals, more than 1/2" high! These days when I leave the house, it's always in Skechers! I just love them, not what I'd call a 'flattering' looking shoe, but I've noticed a LOT of people wearing them, when I'm out & about! My husband has 2 or 3 pairs of the mens ones.
