There is so many diets out there all with specific instructions. But I noticed that Fat Free products seem to have more sugar. Am I imagining this, or does Fat Free products really help you lose weight?
The liver converts sugar into fatty acids in the body, so while fat-free foods do not have fat in them, it still turns into fat. The best way to make your considerations is by how many calories certain foods have. For example, dried fruit is very good for you, and it is fat free, but they are also very high in calories, and all the natural sugars will make you gain weight if you do not burn them off. Moderation is the key. Eat a balance of each food group, rather than avoiding everything with fat.
You're not imagining anything. Fat-free products often do contain a lot more sugar to compensate for the lack of fat consequent lack of flavour. Apparently sugar disrupts the body's ability to regulate appetite and so we often over eat.
