Did you have a sweet sixteen party?

It wasn't so much a party as it was dinner with friends. I can't remember much of it, but it was at my favourite restaurant at the time. It was really nice.

That was 32 years ago.. I have no idea. I do remember my 18th and I had a bit 21st. But I can't remember what I did at 16.

I had a sixteenth birthday party, but it wasn't really different from my fifteenth or seventeenth birthday. What's so special about sixteen? The only thing I can think of that changes is that you are then legally the age of consent. Surely parents aren't actually throwing their kids a party celebrating the fact that they are now old enough to have sex?

I never had one. Growing up in the UK, sweet sixteen parties weren't really that popular. I had a couple of friends in America who had big sweet 16th parties, but they just weren't something that was common in the UK.

Yes I did but nothing of the scale that they hold today. I am happy that mine was much simpler as it left me with celebrations to look forward to and a building sense of anticipation as I grew into adulthood.
