Can you start a lawn mower or whipper snipper using the pull cord method?

I definitely cannot do this any more.
Even when I was on a property and had a commercial whipper snipper, I had problems, though eventually I could get it started.
Now, after have smashed a vertebrae, I am unable to do things like this, so bought a small electric lawnmower yesterday for a small patch of grass.

I do not know why there are not more key start mowevers being invented, and whipper snippers often are a poblem.

Pull cords should be replaced.

Whipper Snipper. No. Chainsaw. No. Current mower . . . yes, when it's in a good mood. . . ! I also cheat and have a Flymo so that if said mower is having a snit I just put it away and use the Flymo. I should call it Oscar the Grouch.

Yes - we used to have a lawn mower when I was growing up that needed to be started this way and I was always able to do it

Simple answer is NO!! Never in all my life could I start a pull cord mower!! Dad would do it for me if I was mowing the lawn as a kid,and I have not been able to mow since my later teens after my arthritic ailments really set in. I actually miss it as I found it to often be very relaxing!! I am very lucky as my wonderful neighbour across the road has generously done my mowing since my son moved away interstate! He hated this particular chore, and would always happily pay someone to do it!!

Haha. Thank heaven for somebody else who actually likes mowing. Like you, I find it very difficult these days but I still do it, whinge about the pain, then admire my handiwork. Heeheeheehee.

It really is something which,while you are still doing the job,shows your efforts which make the improvements bigger and better as you continue!! Like painting a room almost!!! The gratification is almost instant!!

I doubt it; I haven't tried that for years. My first mower and whipper snipper were electric as I didn't have a very large yard.Later, I got a key start petrol mower; much better than the pull start. These days I am lucky enough to be able to afford a lawn mowing guy; also much better than a pull start mower.

I used to own a Flymo and it had a pull cord. Never had any problems starting it! I do remember my dad had a lawn mower with a petrol engine that he used to struggle to start. Needless to say, he got rid of it pretty quickly and replaced it with one that was easier to get going....

I have a few times tried...what a big job if your a woman! wow...So my mower and whipper snipper are electric.
Pulling that stupid cord is a pest! and I agree with you Finny, should be more key start machines.

Yes I do ot all the time. Once a week during summer and then one every four to five weeks during the cooler months of the year

Lawn mower. Yes. Whipper snipper, no. Maybe if I was shown, I could do it.

Umm. What do these items of equipment look like? The answer is no. These jobs are for the man of the house when there is one. I suppose if I had to do these jobs I'd either buy easy to start or get someone else to keep the yard tidy.

And that is because we haven't ever had any grass at our house, which we moved into on June 5, '79. We had our house build on a sandstone quarry. There's just a LOT of trees & leaves. I sweep the leaves up with a broom.
