My kids were 6 years old before they drank soft drink. Once they started going to birthday parties, the cat was out of the bag!

What age do you think is acceptable for kids to drink soft drink?

Ideally never, but you can't stop them when they are at a friend's house, party, or at some other point when you are not around.
If I had my time over again, my boys would not ever drink the stuff....it's that simple.
I was pretty annoyed when someone gave it to my three year old. I would prefer they didn't have it until they were about six. But then, we don't normally drink it at home, so I suppose if they have it it will just be something they just have at parties so it's not such a big deal.
I don't like the idea of children drinking soft drink. I suppose I will cross that bridge when I get there, but 8-10 years sounds ok to me, and even then it will only be a treat.

My kids were around 6 when they had it for the first time. They drink it now on occasion, but certainly not on a regular basis. My husband drank Coke from a very young age and I think that is just awful!
You know what? If I had my time over again as a parent I don't think I would introduce soft drinks at all. Compared to other mothers I was extremely conservative with soft drinks and my child was school age before she could have the odd glass on special occasions. I think that my child being cavity free for her entire childhood proves that it was a good decision on my behalf. Soft drinks are empty calories, full of sugar which lead to all sorts of potential health issues.
I agree Shelley but the time comes when they go off to other kids' birthday parties and you lose control!
I very rarely have a soft drink, and therefore I would rarely think it is OK at any age for children to have these drinks.

They are so unhealthy and so full of sugar and chemicals.
I guess once in a while it is OK, but I do not think they should be something given to a child regularly at any age.

When they grow up they will do what they want anyway, so better not to get them used to this.

3 or 2 1/2 yrs. But not a lot. And not often.
