As we age, many of us have a problem with opening round door handles.

Are yours the round ones as above, or the lever type, as below?

I have just finished changing over the majority of my door handles to lever type ones as they were all the round ones when I bought the house a few years ago.

They are SO much easier to use even though I do not have arthritis in my hands.

Round. I don't mind them as my son can't open them. I imagine he would be able to easily open the lever-type ones, which would spell trouble for me.

I have round handles in this house.

That lever handle in the picture looks like a safety hazard! Everyone would bash their hips or wrists on it, and the kids would slam their heads into it lol

I didnt see it that way but now that you point it out.....

Had lever-handles in original house, in which FOUR people lived, the longest there FORTY years' & NEVER had any of the 'situations' you say, happen!

We used to have doors with a lever on one side and a knob on the other, but we recenty changed al our doors so that they are all levers now.
My house has round door handles. At the moment that's not a problem for me but when I get older it might be. Sigh.

I have some of each.My newly renovated areas have the much easier to use, Lever style handles. The others will soon all be like these as I have severe arthritis and opening doors can be be a real challenge for me at the best of times!!!
My beautiful first home, all levers or vertical handles. Current home, round & I hate them. The front door one has been placed SO close to door jamb, scrape fingers opening it, especially at night, as can't see it; I won't leave light on as that invites 'no gooders' to check the place out! I do have a mini light attached to key ring, which works well, PROVIDED I not struggling with bags of groceries!
We have the round type. My husband doesn't like the look of the lever ones. When we enter that age bracket where we or our friends find it difficult to open and close doors we will get more user friendly door knobs!!! For now, it is not high on our priority list.
I have round ones and have never had problems with them. I prefer them over the lever type ones.
I've had never heard of the lever ones! Ours are all wooden round ones. (Our simple display house was built towards the end of '78, & we moved in,1/2 way through the following year.)
