I used to always get bitten severely, but after contracting Ross River Fever in Feb 2012, I have taken massive precautions to avoid this happening again.I have a rare form of arthritis anyway, and this 'Break Bone Fever' as it is known is a Poly-Arthritic disease which made all of my issues so much worse. It took me well over a year to get over this bout, while most people who get it recover much more rapidly! Being vigilant about removing water from anything in the garden, even palm fronds, helps to eliminate breeding areas for Mozzies in this tropical region.I HAD always done this, but since the RRF I am even stricter about it !!
I don't think I have been bitten once over all of summer. I can't recall ever having multiple mozzie bites at all. It's that high pitched noise the females make that drives me bananas! Bite me, I say, but shut up about it!!
