Are you prone to bad period pain?

I get much worse period pain since I gave birth to my youngest. I get a horrible cramp right through my hip. it's not the typical cramp though, I'm not entirely sure what causes it.

I won't complain then. Crap meggf, perhaps you should get it checked out as VerityG has suggested.

I used to get terrible period pains, they started a week before my period was due and lasted for the whole period. I often spent nearly two weeks in bed as a result, out of my head on extremely strong painkillers that had little effect.
However, after three years of really intensive treatment - a combination of surgical and medical (drugs) - and finally a successful pregnancy, my periods became nearly pain free. The first time this happened I was so surprised I went to my gynaecologist to find out what was wrong! Periods shouldn't be painful - pain wherever it is found is a signal that something is wrong. If you do get really painful periods then you should have them investigated and treated. Menstruation is something the female body is designed to do and it should be able to do it without pain.

Wow. I always assumed pain just came with the territory. My period pain has gotten worse since I had my son, perhaps I'll ask my doctor what's up with that. Thanks. :)

I'm usually out of commission for the first day of my cycle, and the pain has changed (for the worse) since I had my son. It almost feels as though I'm dilating. :|

Yep, I'd get that investigated. It could be something really simple to sort out! But a healthy body shouldn't feel pain, if it's doing what it's meant to do.

I used to get awful period pain - I would be in pain for a day or two before my period and then the first 2 days at least. These days I tend to get emotional symptoms (I cried during the Croods where Eep says good-bye to her dad lol) but minimal pain.

I used to but that seems like in another life -perhaps because it was so long ago but I DO remember having awful pains and my friends did not -was always envious!

Yes awful pain ! But molasses and lemongrass/peppermint tea helped me this time.

Unbelievable cramps! Only relief was from pain-killer Tablets for it, & hot water bottle on stomach!

It got worse after my first baby, & continued, even after 2nd baby.

Got my 'reward' for all of those years' of pain, in having NO menopause symptoms' whatsoever!

When out to lunch with friends', they'd all have their pretty fans waving away big time, & I just sat there as 'cool as a cucumber'!

Gotta get a 'break'' somewhere along life's way!
And the male of the species' gets away with NO comparable 'problems', including no pregnancy or childbirth! Grrrr!

No problems with period pain but big problems for 4-5 days before they arrived, PMS.

Oh, man...NOT looking forward to the return of my period and PMS when my daughter starts solids.

Yes Vee, long time ago now but the PMS always made me feel that I should be classified as a homicidal maniac. I always looked forward to the relief of the curse actually arriving.
