I just finished one by Sandra Brown which is a brilliant crime novel writer.
I have read about 4 of hers and really cannot put them down till I have finished.
Nowadays all I read is crime novels as I find them exciting and I want to go on and on reading!

I was this way with Val McDermid's books a few years back.I would read well into the night, and it actually was sometimes sad when I finished a book as I wanted to keep going and find out what may have happened next!!!! Some books, I have even re-read some time later and I found I got as much out of them the second time around, as I picked up little things I had missed on the firts reading!I cannot imagine life without books!

I am reading 'Girl on a Train' by Paula Hawkins. My daughter had just finished reading it, and she gave it to me to read. Her boyfriends mother is also reading it. I just love crime and thrillers, but will read other things from time to time, if they are interesting enough
I am not a casual reader. I read technical material for work purposes. These days most of the information I need is online.
I am reading the 4 hour work week by Tim Ferris which is very good. I never cared much for self help books but now realising that if I did look closely I might find few good ones.

Sounds interesting.

It is amazing, common sense and opened my eyes to see what people say, is not always the truth.Makes it easy to, spot lies if you take it in. :)

Books are my lifeblood and it would be a rare day I am not reading one.

Last year I participated int he Goodreads Challenge and aimed to read 40 books.

My most memorable book reading experience was sitting poolside at a hotel in Coober Pedy, dangling my feet in the water on a 40+ degree day a couple of years ago, totally immersed in The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flannagan (A Man Booker Prize Winner).

Currently I am reading The Girl With No Name by Diney Costeloe, the third book I have read by this author.
Did you read the target of 40 books? What a glorious challenge to participate in!! When my son was at school, they would have things like this to hopefully encourage a love for reading, and also raise funds for the school library.I always sponsored all the kids who took part in these challenges.
Like you, I also have lovely memories of where I was when reading various titles!

I fell short of my target Jules and only read 38 of the 40 books. A shoulder operation in November made it difficult to hold the books for a while.
Yes, Ties that Bind...
I'm always reading one. :) Now I read 2, Two men in a boat and A tale of love and darkness.
Yes, I always have a book going. Sometimes even two or three at the same time! Currently reading Anne Rice's new book in the Vampire Chronicle's 'Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis'. Absolutely love her.
Always. I have about three on the go at the moment plus I am listening to Macbeth on my Kindle.

Aaaaah! Something which we enjoy in a different way, I am finally discovering!!! I am definitely a Pages and touchy-feely sort of book person.
I guess this may change as my arthritis gets even worse and I can hardly turn the pages, though!!!
Actually, it matters not at all, HOW we read, just as long as we continue to do this wonderful thing!!

I always have at least one book on the go, and as a collector of antique and old children's books I have been coming across some really interesting as well as cheerfully entertaining ones!! Much as I do truly love a good crime novel, and even some whimsical Science Fantasy(as opposed to sciece fiction) I have found, while being stuck with an injury which has meant elevating my leg most of the time for the past 16 weeks, that revisiting, and also discovering, some of the fabulous old treasures from the past has brought many a smile to my face! Books are an intrinsic part of my life and I love the look, the feel and even the smell of real books.I am NOT an e-book type of reader at all!!
I still love the library and wandering around book stores, though!! At least that way I can get inspiration for purchases on my Kindle. I do miss a "real" book - the smell of the pages and the illustrations - but at least my Kindle is allowing me to read again. *sigh*

Oh Rice! Aren't bookshops just heaven? especially the smaller more eclectically stocked ones which also sell specialty jams and chocolates!!! We have one here in Townsville which has been owned by the same two delightful women for over 30 years! I have often been given items and gift vouchers from there, and it is such a treat to visit! I do know that Kindle has allowed many people to get on with their reading, but I just have not yet been able to do it myself! Some of my treasured books are so big and so heavy, that I have to sit them on a table in front of me, and enjoy them in this fashion! Filled Bookshelves are, to me, the loveliest furniture in a room!! I have WAAAAY TOOOOO MANY of them for practical purposes, but they are like friends to me!!!

Just finished a book by Sharon Garlough Brown called Two Steps Forward. It follows a book called Sensible Shoes. A wonderful story about a group of women who come together and share a journey discovering their faith in God.
Yes, finished Seven Letters from Paris by Samantha Verant few days ago, now on Stasiland by Anna Funder. Books make me sit down & have some quiet "me" time.
I usually do a lot of reading in winter with a good book. I find it hard to put a good book down and usually read a novel in a day. I don't feel guilty anymore as the children have left home and I am the boss now.

Yes I am currently reading a book, about an african women and her life with sstruggles, I enjoy reading these sorts of autobiographies
I am impressed by you all reading so much! Sadly or not, I am not reading books/novels at the moment, can't seems to get into anything or find anything that keeps me awake for very long, This may change later as i have intensions to get baxk into reading but something else will have to go in its place me thinks!
Nothing, as I'd have to use a large magnifying glass to read any print! With newspapers & mags', I can only read the large print of the headlines! I'm waiting to have my cataracts removed, at some stage. No date has been made to have that done yet, but I am seeing someone about it, in 2 weeks

Your local library will have an array of Talking Books which would be useful for you and will even deliver through the 'Home Lending Service'.

I very rarely read fiction. At the moment I have a few travel and health / nutrition books on the go. I recently read 'Spectacles' by British comedienne Sue Perkins.
Thank you for your suggestion, Lynmw. Good idea.
by Miro
Yes. It's not an easy read, but it's a critical one.
