I wouldn't go out alone at night, but that has very little to do with a fear of the dark. As a child however, I was very scared of the dark. So I use to leave the light outside my bedroom on while I slept, otherwise I would sneak into my sister's bed and sleep with her.
I'm not afraid of the dark, but going out alone at night is not a good idea, especially for women, so I avoid it where possible unless I'm going somewhere well lit and well populated.
No. Living in Brisbane, where it is hot most of the day, I often go out walking in the evening and, as I live in a very safe area, I never feel concerned. I am, however, cautious and not foolhardy where I am walking, ie in wooded areas. I am always aware of my surroundings and do not wear earphones. As I walk in the suburbs I am always near houses in the event of any emergency.
