plane aeroplane air disaster crash fear flying phobia

Recently, several planes have gone missing, flown into the sea or been shot down, with the loss of all on board.

Have the recent air disasters made you afraid of flying? Have you always been afraid of flying? Or do you not worry about the risk of a plane crash when you fly?

I'm not afraid of flying, it's not something that has ever bothered me and I am aware that statistics show it is safer to fly than to drive..... BUT this recent spate of disasters has made me pause and wonder!
Nope, just falling :P

After an air disaster I'd probably feel superstitious at the beginning of the flight - but I wouldn't for a moment consider not flying!
If I could afford Qantas...then no I would be ok.
Once again their record is still the safest airline in the world.

I will fly, but I hate all that tonnage taking off, as it shakes, and rattles and Oh! the thought just makes me feel faint. :(
I'm not a fan but it doesn't stop me travelling.
As a pilot and therapist who works with anxious fliers, the recent events have had an impact. It is interesting that people react emotionally to a crash, even if it involves an airline they never fly. That's not too smart. If the recent crashes have had an effect, rethink it. Aviation has grown far too rapidly in Asia, too rapidly for safety fundamentals to have been put effectively in place. Thanks tom, I may just get that. We are due for an overseas holiday next month and I am nervous due to recent events.

Its not the fear of flying that gets me, as much as the fear of falling from a great height :-(
