I am a member of the WA RAC.

I have been for many years and consider this well worth the $100 or so that I pay per year.

I used them yesterday when I had a totally flat tyre and they came and changed it and gave me advice.

I find them marvelous as even when a battery is flat they will deliver new ones with no fuss -easy!

I'm not sure, and no. When I was at uni though, I had to call roadside assistance twice because I had drained the car battery. :|

Yes, and no. But we used it twice the previous year. Such a good thing to have, we have complete cover so if we break down with a car full of shopping (which happened last year, a car full of shopping, three kids, and me pregnant) we get a taxi ride home. If we're a long way from home we get a night in a hotel. Myst try to break down somewhere more interesting than the supermarket carpark next time …..
Yes the RAC, don't use them often...but vital for emergencies..

I do not have a car so do not require any membership!!!
Ya not Australian if ya not a member struth!

No I haven't used them, and I bought the second highest cover.
It's not cheap I know that.....but it gives me so much peace of Mind!
My car is 16 years old, so it is a must.....I would tell anyone to get it, seriously.
I used them just yesterday as my car overheated and water gushed out when I tried to top it up. I'm with NRMA and have always been pleased with their level of service.
I always had roadside assistance but now that I have moved country and I haven't kept it up - it's something I have been meaning to look into. This question was a good reminder!!

Yes we are as we do a lot of driving. We used it twice last Christmas day. We got up on Christmas morning, in a motel in Mackay, to find our battery was dead. RACQ was out and had it fixed in about an hour. We then stopped in Townsville for lunch and wouldn't you know it, the bloody thing went flat again! So the RACQ guy came out and I think he replaced the battery. We also use our membership to get discounts on things like theme parks and movies.
Yes, and no. Even as a near 40 yr mechanic, I have had membership in 3 states for most of that time, and currently 15 yrs with RACQ.

Let's face it, I do not carry more than one spare wheel, never a battery or other heavy or large spare parts, and never enough tools. Tools won't help when a major engine failure occurs or such like.

I have when luckily for others to be on way home after a private job, done some pretty huge repairs on the side of the road, as it is only then I had major gear on board.

I lifted my engine out and back in in one day under a tree on the way to Darwin when posted that way many years ago, for a welsh plug. I did have all my gear in a trailer though, and I had no choice being inbetween nowhere and still nowhere.
Yes, my husband is a member of the NRMA, but hasn't to use it for about 6 years. It's always good to have the membership though in case of an emergency. Our car is about 24 years old. We don't drive it very far from where we live these days. One night years ago it broke down twice on our way home from a friends place. They NRMA came the 1st time, & a very nice man, walking home in the rain from a close by restaurant (with an umbrella) helped us the 2nd time. It only took 2/3 minutes to fix the problem. We were at the traffic lights!
