Yes, and no. Even as a near 40 yr mechanic, I have had membership in 3 states for most of that time, and currently 15 yrs with RACQ.
Let's face it, I do not carry more than one spare wheel, never a battery or other heavy or large spare parts, and never enough tools. Tools won't help when a major engine failure occurs or such like.
I have when luckily for others to be on way home after a private job, done some pretty huge repairs on the side of the road, as it is only then I had major gear on board.
I lifted my engine out and back in in one day under a tree on the way to Darwin when posted that way many years ago, for a welsh plug. I did have all my gear in a trailer though, and I had no choice being inbetween nowhere and still nowhere.
