Big, little, major, minor . . it's all perception really. I have always been one of those people that respects and fears authority figures, so mistakes make me really feel ill. I am also gifted with a quick wit and an active brain, so I have never been in so deep that I was drowning. Owning up is always the first and easiest thing to do, trust me. Once you have done that, the situation becomes manageable. I made a couple of mistakes at work that I was able to salvage through thinking on my feet. *phew* The dumbest thing I have done in the last couple of years was try to buy my sister Scrabble on her iPad . . . .not realising, of course, that the Apple store was tied to HER credit card and would not accept mine. LOL. My other half was nearly squealing with glee at my discomfiture but I had already told my brother and we decided to tell her together. She laughed uproariously and all was over in a matter of a few moments. If the mistake makes you feel bad, then hiding it is going to make you feel ten times worse.

Apologize usually or hope it blows over. Sometimes I have to face the negative consequences of my actions which is never to my liking but alas, what to do.
Always learn from the mistake and try never to repeat the same mistake.
Sadly we all make mistakes, however as I tell my adult son it is harder to recover or get over mistakes.

I myself can't give an answer, because I don't know the mistake.....without that it is impossible to guess. :(

. . . and then I found this . . . . LOL.

My Siamese does stupid things sometimes, & when I ask him 'what are YOU doing?', he just meows pitifully, 'cos he knows I'll 'rescue' him!

I set about fixing it !!! If it is a personal problem, I will apologise. If it is something else I will try to correct it. Admitting your mistake is the first step, then do what you can to reverse your mistake or make up for it, and finally LEARN from the experience.
Oh! Lluxi, that's just way too sensible!
Cheers!

Yes Donjo !!! This is in an ideal world of course. Rarely works out this way

Swear very loudly, & often!

Then try & sort it,...........
I act like an adult and own up as soon as possible. I appologise if necessary and learn from the experience. I understand when others make a mistake unless they had been warned and are still behaving carelessly.
When working on art there is no such thing as a mistake- only happy accodents!

I own up to it quickly and get it over and done with. Then try to rectify the problem. Hopefully we all learn from our mistakes which makes us wiser in the long run. No one is perfect
I can hear people learning from their mistakes. What if the mistake involves not learning from said mistake made in the past?! I would apologise and set out to make amends. Sometimes others may forgive you quicker than you can forgive yourself.

That is a really difficult one to answer as it so depends on the mistake.
