No I dont write letters anymore!
I have a friend in London who does not have the Internet and she wrote me a letter about 4 months ago and I meant to answer but somehow always put it off -it is almost like I cannot write anymore and certainly don't want to!
Strange to ask that question when I have 'just' written a note to a friend who sends me little letters....otherwise I never do except I still send cards in hardcopy with a note inside, much more personal I feel (maybe this is just a generational thing)
Yes!! I am a calligrapher so I adore writing to people, and they seem to love seeing my writing on the envelope as well as the letter inside! I am tending to do less and less.not because of the internet, but due to me rapidly worsening arthritic disease. It is extremely sad for me to have to consider that I will do less and less of a favourite past time.
Very occasionally. I wrote one recently as a friend's mother collects stamps and had appealed in particular for international ones and as I live in Germany with friends all round the world who send us parcels if not letters, I was able to get quite a good collection of stamps. So I wrote a little letter to send with the stamps.... and got a really heartfelt thank you from my friend as my letter had arrived whilst his mum was having a really bad time and it had helped cheer her up enormously. I vowed after this that I would write more letters....
I write a few letters and notes too as well as emails and short texts. And it is a dying art sadly, we will forget how to use the written word properly! And I agree, stamp collecting is also fading. Real Birthday and Christmas cards are great to send and receive too.
No, I haven't written a letter in years. The last letter i wrote to a friend was never responded to. I afterwards learned that she had started to communicate by email. So i had to get an email address. That to me was the best thing since sliced bread.
I still write letters to some people, the ones who appreciate a letter and communicate back in the same way. There is something special about a letter. Letter writing is a tradition among the women in my family. I have letters written by family members from decades ago and they are very precious to me. Email and text messages have their place but I love letter writing and receiving.
