If the given the choice between two answers for which you do not know the answer, why is it that you will most likely choose the wrong answer instead of the correct one?

It's not most likely. It's exactly 50/50.
I was thinking of where there are only two options. If there are six answers and only one is right then your chance of guessing right is one in six, so you are more likely to guess wrong in that case.

I don't think it is most likely at all. Perhaps you view the glass as half empty instead of half full?
I don't think it's true. I think we just notice wrong answers more than right ones.
Yes, I think that's confirmation bias, where we notice things that confirm what we already believe and forget or ignore things that go against it.

I often test students and find this to be true. They usually guess the wrong answer on multiple choice questions they are unfamiliar with.

Dumbness? Is that even a word? Example of 'evolution' of the English language, maybe? Lol!
