I call on either one of my two daughters in law, or if they are unavailable I call on a few good friends that I have.

I hate asking but as I have become more unable to do things, I have had to ask for help and even though I dislike doing it, I have learnt to do it now.

I do have gardeners though at least but there are just some things that they do not do around the place. I also pay a handyman so I dont have to keep bothering people.

My husband or my mum.
It depends on what I need help with - but I have 4 go to people - husband, mother, sister and best friend

Don't particularly like asking for help, unless it's help only a professional can provide. If I really need it, will ask my husband, sometimes in an ambiguous and roundabout manner.

devious then! My mother once said to me I will not get what I want from a man as I come right out and blurt it out whereas a "clever" woman knows how to go about it without asking in the manner I do -think she was right but you MUST be one of those "clever" women she was talking about. hahah -bit late now for me who is single...

I think your mother was onto something there, Finy. But, no, I'm not one of those 'clever' women you've described. All that results from my round-a-bout requests is a lot of miscommunication and a broken mirror. O.o

broken mirror???

Hmmm.. I asked him in a round-a-bout way to do something. He didn't get the hint and there was an accident as a result. :|

I don't like to ask as people are very busy, so I try not too.
It depends on the kind of help I need: usually Hubby for practical stuff, girlfriends for moral support and emotional stuff and Mum for family issues. I'm not really a high maintenance person!
No one if I can help it...am very independent however.....now I am getting older and my back is not that good and I can't really lift anything without suffering afterwards...I am forced to get people in, my neighbour's son has helped me with a couple of things but don't like asking

I hate to admit that I ever need help and I will struggle along in my stubborn and not very sensible, independence as much as I possibly can!!! I do have a couple of dear friends I can call on,though I do this extremely rarely,as I hate relying on others for anything at all! My neighbours are always offering help so I am learning to accept this more easily now as I do need help with many small things, being unwell!! But I far prefer to pay someone to do stuff, rather than intrude on a friend's time.
If I really need help with something I call my wife. She's great.
My husband, because he's usually in the next room to where I need the help!!!

Alas I don't have anyone to ask. I wouldn't ask the few friends I have, as I wouldn't want to impose on them. Generally if it's something I can't do then I have to get a 'professional' in and pay for it to be done.
