I love Smokey BBQ sauce, but as a kid I would only ever eat tomato sauce. Which do you prefer? Are there certain foods you eat with either of these sauces or do you tend to stick to your preferred sauce?
I only have BBQ sauce if it is at a restaurant because we don't buy it, even though we like it. It doesn't go with meals as universally as tomato ketchup. We also buy brown sauce, which I love on cottage pie. If I want something warming I'll go for brown, otherwise I'll have tomato.
LOL . . . my other half rails against the "rules" and always willfully has all the sauces that don't belong with things, accompanied by mutterings of, "Who says you HAVE to have mint sauce with lamb and apple sauce with pork!" . . etc. Sad, I know. LOL
Oh! Rice Paper.....much like the 'white wine/white meat', & 'red wine/red meat' debate! Lol!
Nowadays, I drink whatever wine I FEEL like at the time!
But there're reasons why those rules started in the first place, which wasn't a bad thing, at the time!
Oh! Rice Paper.......try your Pork with PEAR, from little Heinz Baby Fruit range tins.......
I can't eat mayonnaise, as oil content makes me nauseous. Same goes for EVOO drizzled on anything!
If I buy a 'snag on bread' at Bunnings, enjoy BBQ Sauce, on that! Lol!
I have BBQ sauce on bacon and sausages. Tomato sauce on dagwood dogs and tomato sauce and hot English mustard on hot dogs. I have sweet chilli sauce on wedges with sour cream and when I fancy it, Worcestershire on sausages and a mix of that and BBQ sauces in my cottage pies. And of course, only tomato sauce on meat pies.
Mmm. Tomato. I don't have bbq on anything but other half always has some in the fridge . . . and it always goes over the use by date(!) On hotdogs only I put tomato and mustard. I think I will start to make my own so that I know what's in it.
