Yes, definitely . Sometimes I gift it to family or friends. In my home country , there are a lot of people who never had chance to even cross a state and they know they won't be able to do it for financial or other reasons. I share coins and some currency notes with them if they are interested. The smile on their face is worth it !
I used to keep the change from various countries when I first started going to Europe in my 30's.
After a while, rather after several years of travelling every year, I decided there was no point in keep change, however I DID keep small notes as they were handy when I got to an airport and didnt have to change money at the airport, which is more expensive.
Since then, I no longer keep any change deliberately however there always seems to be some left and I now throw it out.
