I think that would have been a year ago on Mothers Day.
I no longer often receive flowers - used to love getting them but nowadays it doesnt worry me as I have a lovely succulent/cacti garden which I look out onto from my main living room, and kitchen.

I do like flowers however find they make a mess in the house as they age!!

Oh. Should have read yours first . . . would have saved my fingers!! LOL. I might add that as well as messy, they can smell a bit weird after a few days too.

are we lazy or what - yes they do smell sometimes!
that OCD is creeping in again - messy!

I was actually with her this Mother's Day, so she gave me presents instead. :-))

Probably a month ago.. my mum loves bringing me flowers from her garden which I adore.
Never 😁
I understand. They only die. Himself doesn't buy flowers for that reason and I have no problem with that :-)
by Rice
It would have been about 12 months ago because it was Mother's Day.

same as me - this year we both missed out on Mothers day?
by Finy
My kids gave me some they found in the garden on Saturday. They were beautiful.
This Mothers Day just gone.Got flowers to the door.

I don't like to get flowers, as they cost, and I would always rather get the money in a card.

Plus they die so quickly.
put some sugar in the water, and they seem to last at least a week for me! and change water every second day
by Finy
Thanks Finy..but I really hope I don't get any more.
Flowers to me should be for everyone, not just those who can afford them.
That is another part of my issue.

I am actually not a big fan of flowers because I prefer to see them left in the ground where they belong.

Mothers Day, so about a month ago. Our house is always full of flowers. I love to bring the outside in, and to be in touch with nature. My husband took me to the florist and told me to buy whatever I wanted, so I choose three big bouquets. I just love flowers. I love the colours and the smell, and different flowers and colours evoke different feelings/ emotions in me. A vase of flowers always looks beautiful, and makes a house a home. I am forever buying flowers for friends to give them the same feeling I get from the touch of nature. I don't mind when they die off. It means it is time for some new ones !! I pick up any petals that have fallen every day, and refill with clean water, as well as trimming the stems after a few days. They last at least a week with good care, and then I go buy more.
Also Lluxi, Trim off a tiny, tiny bit of the bottom of the stalks, before putting them into water for the 1st time. That & changing the water every couple of days, will help the flowers live longer.

Yes. I always do that.

Last week, for my birthday. As our garden is full of roses, iris, jonquils, etc and over 200 orchids, outside is a picture, particularly in the warmer months. However, I'm not allowed to cut the flowers and bring inside as my husband loves looking at the flowers in the garden. Sometimes we bring an orchid insjde for a day or two but as there is hanging areas on our gazebo, he hangs flowering orchids and cacti there. The bromelaids are under the carport and on a stand in front of the water tankand the rest of the garden in this area has ferns, palms and a common camellia growing so we are always surrounded by beauty.
Last bunch was on Mothers Day. Lasted nearly two weeks. Admittedly as time went on it became smaller and smaller. Love flower and it is the only thing I ask my children to give as a gift as I do not want "stuff" any more.I buy myself a bunch of flowers weekly.
About 2 weeks ago at work - they were tulips. I cracked it as there was a lot of undermining and tantrums and politics going on - it was just a toxic work environment and I called it and said it's not one. So my boss went out and bought me flowers.
The last time was 18 months ago. It was the day I'd come home from the hospital after having a baby and people brought flowers. I've only ever received flowers for having children.
Around a year ago

My husband will buy me flowers of my choice, anytime I'd like a bunch of flowers, but if I don't like the choice on display, I'll wait for another time to buy them.

I forgot to add: From the supermarket while doing the grocery shopping! So the last time was a bunch of pink carnations 2/3 weeks ago, & the time before that, it was a bunch of white lilies.
