I have only been to one in the last 3 or 4 years and that is Leonard Cohen.
That is one thing I miss out on, not having a partner, going to live shows as cannot drive at night and most of my friends seem to not go out so much at night anymore and most are married and do not ask me at night!!
Used to go to live plays once a month and loved them.
It is a coincidence that you ask this question. I went to see Matilda the Musical last week with my daughter. It was really good. The girl who played Matilda was just gorgeous. Tonight we are going to see The Sound of Music with Cameron Daddo and Marina Prior. Really looking forward to that. I see My Fair Lady will be coming next year, so ill probably go to that. We are in a theatre group as well. We go to four plays a year at the local Atheneum theatre.
The last performance I attended with one of my daughters was Swan Lake performed at Parramatta's Riverside theatre. I realky don't like travelling into the City for performances but we do have lots going on locally, just not all to my taste. The last shoe I saw in the City was Dawn French which was a birtday treat from same daughter. We would probably go out more often but she is time pour doing full time uni, part time job and raising two young children and looking after home and husband.
I honestly cannot recall what the last one was. I have not been to a live show for over 8 years now as I cannot sit for long periods(or even NOT so longs ones....)It is terribly sad as I used to attend the live theatre regularly, enjoying it immensely. I have eclectic taste,so I have enjoyed such different things as seeing large Orchestras, Ballet, One man shows including John Waters,Barry Humphries etc...Full Musical productions, comedies, all genres of theatre have appealed to me since my early childhood when we would go and watch the local productions of Gilbert and Sullivan in Victoria.
An opera, at the Sydney Opera House with a high school friend, some time ago, but I've forgotten the name of it. The next show we're seeing, is in Sept, '17, at the Capitol Theatre, Sydney, which will be My Fair Lady.
Haven't been to one in years due to cost and I can't go at night either like Finy says. But just yesterday I played in my own amateur orchestra/choir's concert of Haydn's Creation oratorio. I do four concerts a year with this group.
And last September I went to an Aust. Chamber Orchestra concert, with a ticket provided by a friend, whose normal friend was overseas at the time.
