It makes sense to always carry around your keys, some cash, as well as your license and other necessary cards. But what else do you always have in your handbag? Are they things you genuinely can't do without? Or is your bag full of just-in-case items?
I don't really have a handbag, but I am pretty much always wearing a pocket belt (a fabric belt with pockets, for wearing at festivals and stuff, handy if you often wear skirts with no pockets). It usually contains my ipod, house keys, hankies for myself and the kids, a couple of dollars in change bandaids and spare hair clips and hair bands for my daughter.
If I carry a bag it needs to be big enough to carry a lot of stuff (books, nappies, kids lunches) so I'd cripple myself if I wore it over one shoulder. I use a granny trolley or a backpack instead.
I also keep a band-aid in case if kids might get a small scratch. I also keep a lip balm and lipstick and a small mirror. When my kids were younger, a small toy or book to entertain them at odd spots would always come in handy.
Mobile, pen, ccredit and debit cards as well as licence, medicare, health fund card and pre-loaded cash card in secure metal case, money purse with credit and club cards, coin purse, lotto wallet, liquid hand wash, tissues, car key, salt and pepper, glass nail file, lipstick, comb, small notebook, gel for dry mouth and a few serviettes. I'm sure I've forgotten a few things.💳
