I don't go to parties, but my mum's legendary gooseberry fool has a funny story behind it. She once made a gooseberry fool for a party with friends, and one of the guests enjoyed it so much, he hid it so no one else could have any.
As people generally bring chips, dips and cheeses, I like to bring fresh fruit.
Sushi, and also some chips and quality dips such as caviar.
I take my amazing salad in a large bowl.

Then people ask 'what's in it.......it's great'!

I say, ''Can't tell you''........they go away with a sad face.
Cakes and desserts are my thing..so for most parties I am expected to bring a home made cake or a fancy new dessert!
Vietnamese rolls....
