I've been to Langkawi and stayed at KL a couple of days prior to that. It takes just an hour to fly there. I stayed in the Berjaya Langkawi which has five restaurants, a pool with in-pool bar, beach activities such as jet-ski and tours can be organised from there and we went on an interesting river cruise and had a great time. The accommodation was clean and the units were on stilts surrounded by trees and vegetation with monkeys in the trees and fruit bats in the ceilings on the balcony accessed by golf cart (too far to walk). It was an amazing and interesting place. There is a cable car to the top of the mountain with fantastic views. Not much for shopping, the food outside the hotel was cheap and beautiful. Highly recommended.
A safari in Africa is my ultimate holiday, but Canada would be pretty speccy to see too. I'm not one of these people who can just lay on a beach for days on end. I want to go places and meet people and see how they live. Isn't that the main reason you travel? You also appreciate how good you have it in Australia too I believe, especially when you visit 3rd world countries. Mandy E,
Sailing around the Mediterranean, pulling in whenever I wish, to explore tiny Greek islands and finishing off with renting a villa in Tuscany, learning to cook and paint from the locals. A month in a Parisian apartment overlooking the Eiffel Tower would be fine too.
Did a Qantas Day Flight there a year ago! The landscape is spectacular from 10000'!
Well worth the cost & no sea sickness! Is a 13 hour flight, but shorter from Sydney or Melbourne.
Would do this again in preference to sea travel over the Southern Ocean. Best departure city is actually from near Tiago del Fuego, South America, but that ups the cost enormously! Hope your dream comes true! Cheers!
