Human ingenuity is an amazing thing and in years gone by many intriguing gadgets were invented. For example a candle snuffer that looks like a pair of scissors, has a small box mounted on it to collect the wicks and a point to dig out the new wick for the next lighting.

The strangest gadget we have ever seen is the one in the photo. This gadget is held at the Miners Cottage Museum in Charters Towers and when we visited about forr weeks ago they had as yet been unable to work out what it is. Do you have any idea?
On QI recently was a 'Tobacco Resuscitator' to be used in the event of a drowning person. The instrument containing tobacco was lighted and insert into the patient's rectum and smoke pumped into the cavity!!!! The smoke was expected to stimulate and warm the patient.
