A book of sea shanties from my grandmother one year. My grandma did give some odd/useless gifts, but this is probably the strangest.
An interesting question. Although lovely, some hand made items such as creams can feel weird, even though there is a lot of love behind such gifts.
Half a bottle of Hand Cream, from my Mother in Law some many years ago.

It was my Birthday, and the Hand Cream was one of those you buy from the (lower budget shops).

I said ''Oh a half empty bottle of Hand Cream''?

She said only these words - ''Yes I don't like it''.

I said.............thaaaanks!!!! she walked away, with a big smile on her face.
(No I didn't get anything else).
Hahaha. That is funny.
I am sure most people would be thrilled with a dozen wine glasses and a bottle of wine, but considering I haven't drunk alcohol since I was 18, this was one gift I couldn't use.
My younger brother's girlfriend received a box of bananas for her 21st.
A pair of binoculars as a wedding gift-our best gift! Great for theatre or sightseeing. Kind of thing that wouldnbenwayndown our list.
It was an item I'd wanted for awhile.
It was not unusual for me, but unusual to other people as a gift to someone.
The gift was from my Parents'. It was for my 12th Birthday.

It was a pair of beautifully plaited leather REINS!

Why? Because I'd started Horse Riding at 9yo & was just SO 'horse crazy'!
They're very comfortable to use & the 'grip' is better than traditional 'flat' reins!

Just kept 'adding' to my 'horsey' collection as the years' passed.......lovely THICK Saddle Blanket, Leather Riding Gloves, superbly comfortable Poley Saddle, Brushing Kit, brand new stiff, wide Brimmed 'Akubra' Hat, eventually got my 'Hunting Cap' recovered!
