That would depend!
On what else I had to do that day, how tired I was, what time my child went to sleep, how much I want to eat a particular meal, if anyone was coming to eat with us........
One the whole though my cooking philosophy is to spend as little time as possible doing it. I resent spending two hours making a meal that is eaten in 10 minutes!
If it's only a meal for one night, then a half hour, tops, but we mostly do meals where the leftovers will be the following night's supper. In these cases, I don't mind spending an hour cooking because I won't have to spend much time cooking the following night.
