As silly as the idea sounds, it is not that hard to accidentally step on a cactus. I myself tripped on one just the other day and still have some puncture wounds on my feet to show. While the cactus injury might not be fatal, it can lead to infection and a lot of pains. So what is the best way to deal with cactus wound? Should you try to remove the spines yourself or get medical help?
I answered this on another question that I wrote about Cacti -there are SOME types of cacti spikes that have "hooks" or "barbs" on them and these do not just pull out.
I had quite a long one not long ago stuck in my finger, and the more I pulled, the more it just hurt and would not budge.
After feeling very embarrassed at the thought of having to go to a dr with this thin thing sticking out of my finger, I eventually found something that you get splinters out with. I then literally pulled out skin till I could budge it -and boy, was that painful doing that -i almost couldnt do it and then kept thinking about sitting waiting in a Dr surgery and went on!
