I believe 'if' the person shows up to court...it can then be refunded back to who ever posted that Bail.
If the person is not present in court, non refundable, and they are then hunted down till found.
Seems fair to me.
Hmmm. Is it like a deposit that you get back? I have never thought about it actually.

I have never had anything to do with the law, so l really wouldn't know.
I thought it was a bit like renting. You put up the bond (bail) and if the person does as they are meant to do i.e. front court,or not abscond. then you get your rent or bail money back
I have no idea but guess it stays in the system as judges etc get paid well!

You get it back if you show up for court. Otherwise, the state keeps it to fund the jails, staff, etc....
