I was brought up never to say "yuk" to food -just because I don't like it, is not a reason to call it yuk.

I try most foods, and like almost all foods, and would therefore naturally try anything like this also.

Admittedly it would take some getting used to, but that is only physiological as we eat all sorts of things that are similar, but we are used to them!

I believe that locusts are delicious as I heard a radio interview on this subject.

There is also talk that for people who would not eat tinsects, they will make an "ant flour" or some such so that you do not taste it but get the benefit healthwise.

At the moment whoever sells ants, they are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE -and the guy lost in WA for 10 days survived on eating black ants!

Several cultures all over the world have been thriving on such food items for centuries,so obviously there is something nutritious in all of these things! This does not mean that I would necessarily eat them regularly, though I would be willing to TRY them. There are so many reportedly healthy if unusual superfoods out there nowadays, but again,I do not feel inclined to add them to my diet on a regular basis!! I have eaten Green Ants since coming to live in the tropics and ,believe it or not, they are very nice indeed! Rather lemony actually! The secret is to somehow manage NOT to get bitten by these critters,as you try to do exactly that to THEM!!! Ants in particular seem to be a popular Bush Food here in the North, though the indigenous people know of so many others and eat them all the time. As for crickets and grasshoppers,I have seen chocolate coated ones, which I guess if the chocolate is dark, would be even healthier Hee Hee!!!
If there was no food around, sure!

But there is.

So not right now....I see no need too.

Not into eating crunchy legs!
My sentiments exactly.

I might try them if someone offered but I don't think I would go out and buy them so I could them.

They eat them in lots of places already. Hmm. I don't really eat meat, but I might consider eating insects if it's a more efficient source of protein. It seems ethically better than eating, say, a sheep.
I don't know. There are probably foods available now with the same or similar nutrients. Because eating ants would be something new, it would become the latest trend, and would have to do it too. I'm not someone who would join the latest trend simply because it is a new fad. I would have to seek my dietitians advice before I run out and try any ants !!! People will do anything to be the first to say they have tried something.
I'll give it a miss until there's an actual need, ie when 'normal' food's run out.

But by then, I'll have 'fallen off my twig'! Lol!
I don't think a lot of them. I would eat them if it were to be a case of life or death. But other than that, no.
I once heard that crickets and the like are full of protein, and once "the world goes to the crap", we will be eating these instead of actual meat. I can't say I wouldn't eat them if I had to, but I can't bear to think of the idea.

GAK!!!!
throws up* sorry I can't stomach the idea of eating insects. Leave that to the animals and other insects. I know other cultures consume them but they have being doing that for so long they are used to it.
I'm not much interested in super foods. In Australia, most kids were brought up on 3+ vegetable and meat each day and I still think that is one of the best diets around. Need to leave out all the carbs and stick that sound old diet as far as I am concerned. And insects, I could probably face a fricassee of cockroach if I was facing absolute starvation, but probably is probably too strong a word.
We were walking down a Sydney mall about 2 weeks ago, & some people had an ice-cream stall with lovely ice-cream samples with fried 'superfood' insects. Yummy they were too, & very crunchy!
