Samsung Electronics Australia has just launched its first range of Curved Ultra High Definition LED TVs. The advert for the television is quite spectacular, but the idea of a curved TV does not appeal to me. Samsung boasts that its new range of televisions provides an ‘immersive viewing experience’, but I imagine that a curved TV would limit the angles from which it may be viewed. Maybe I’m wrong; what do you think of this novel development? Would you purchase a curved television?

Not interested at all . . . . but, hey, they'll go great in a round house.

I just bought two new television sets, and did not even consider these.
They are too new and I think if you are sitting at the wrong angle, they could be not so good.

I prefer things that have been tested.
Plasma and LED came out and at first they said plasma was not as good -apparently now the opinions have changed and in Australia they sell more plasmas.

So I would not buy a curved screen for at least another year or two, but having just bought two lovely big new ones, it will be longer than that anyway.

I don't think these TVs will take off. Much like the 3D televisions, there may be intial hype, but it will soon die down.

I think they will become a decor nightmare (for the decor conscious, that is)

Don't show my husband cause he will want it. And we have more than enough TV and stereo equipment as it is.
Looks cool, I'm interested in finding out a bit more about it.
Oh Lordy! That does not look good for the eyes!

I probably wouldn't - I don't know why they've come up with this idea, flat screen is as good as it ought to get.
It doesn't appeal to me. The idea of TV being more immersive than it already is seems unnecessary to me - I like reality and am happy for the lines between it and fantasy to be defined.
I don't think I'd like watching TV on one of these. I like to view mine straight ahead of me
Would make me 'motion sick'.

It was tried back in the early '60's in movie theatres, first film being, 'How the West Was Won'.
The concept failed.
There a great idea. Now people with curved Faces can watch a proper TV.
Hahaha. I laughed so hard when I read this.

they apparently offer great viewing for angled viewing so for most situations they should offer a better experience for everyone in the room
I would like to put this to the test.
