What are the best ways to nurture yourself naturally when you're experiencing premenstrual tension?

Every month premenstrual tension causes untold anxiety and discomfort in the lives of many women. While it's possible to purchase over-the-counter medications from your local chemist shop, there are also many natural, herbal-based remedies which will soothe and nurture you over these sensitive days. Personally I swear by aromatherapy and herbal teas. Since time immemorial the herb sage has been considered to have a special affinity with women, and makes a relaxing tea, or in the form of clary sage, is very soothing in a bath or as a tummy rub. How do you nurture yourself naturally when PMT strikes?

I love herbal teas too, but also a little bit of good quality dark chocolate makes me happier. It's also important to have time to rest.

There's a great article (written by me!!) on Ten Tips to Treat PMT Naturally which will help you stay off the pharmaceuticals and breeze thorugh your PMT. It is largely a lifestyle condition, and making some small but consistent changes can make a big difference to your PMT experience. PMT and nutrition are also intricately linked and maintaining a healthy, well-balanced diet will assist in alleviating PMT. It's what you do when you're not in the PMT phase that makes a difference.

If you are suffering, stick to hot drinks (even drink your water hot with a little fresh ginger), eat simple meals like brown rice and steamed vegetables, stay off the sugar, and try self massage of the abdomen (always in a clockwise direction).
or if you actually suffer from PMT, try a Valium and a diuretic - i.e. be generous, think of the people around you.
