I only buy those in bags.
Like wild rocket or spinach.
I love the ones from Woolies the best.
Some even have a slither of carrot in them and beetroot.Makes it interesting.
I stopped buying lettuce heads years ago, they just seem to be full of water...and tasteless, for me.
I will only rarely buy lettuce much any more, as I prefer to grow the interesting small varieties in a huge tub,so I can just pick the fresh leaves as I need them!!! I love the variety available when growing these colourful and sweet leaves. I began buying the seedlings at Bunnings about 6 years ago,as they sell mixed punnets instead of all being the one type. I did buy a gorgeous sweet Iceberg lettuce last week as it was only 95 cents for a huge ,well-formed one. My neighbour who also lives alone, will often share a lettuce with me as neither of us ever really need a whole one.
Cos lettuce is my absolute fave. I eat it by the leaf, I put it in cheese and lettuce sandwiches, I use it for green smoothies and I love how well it keeps in the fridge. I hate that purple on too, Finy! Radicchio. Yuk.
