A trial is being started in Queensland, so that cars can turn left, with care, on a red signal.

This has been done for a long time in several places throughout the world.

Do you think it is a good idea?

Why or why not?

Yes! Bring it on. It's got to help ease traffic congestion.

I think this works in a lot of other countries, so would probably work OK here in Australia.
There are many people who would find it rather a daunting thought however, and pedestrians would need to be aware till they are used to it.

I know places in Sydney where it is already done...has been for a good while.
So far so good!
I have not heard or seen any adverse to this.
Yes. Though drivers and pedestrians must be more careful
Yes - anything to ease the congestion in Perth - a City designed for 1 million people but accommodating twice that number because WA is Australia's cash cow......

Yes, with ABSOLUTE safety protocols in place. Would move traffic along.

Lane would HAVE to be signed 'left turn only', so if road straight ahead, those cars wouldn't be held up!
Some heavily congested places in Adelaide have this.
