Should cattle grazing or horse riding be allowed in National Parks?

During the drought, when feed stocks were low, graziers were allowed to put their herds on pasture in National Parks. To boost the tourism industry, some businesses are permitted to take their customers horse riding there. Having had practical experience in weed eradication in these parks, I feel that these activities are the thin edge of the wedge. Should they be sanctioned?

I don't think it's a good idea at all. The primary objective of a wildlife sanctuary is to protect nature - grazing cows and horse riding are not conducive to proction, if anything they would lead to erosion and a whole set of consequent problems.

In Canada I'm pretty sure grazing in parks is not permitted but horseback rides are. However, I do believe grazing is allowed in provincial parks. Parks in Canada are in serious jeopardy right now. Our current government have been dismantling our environmental protection laws to make things easier and more profitable for large industry. Most of the country seems to be upset about it, although it could be that I see it more because my circle of friends don't agree with the current regime. I am very much looking forward to the next election. I hope that the people, myself included, can elect a party that will care for our parks and our land more than their pocketbooks. Once that is taken care of, I hope that things like grazing and horseback riding in our parks will be looked at, but for Canada, we have much larger environmental problems to look after first. Sorry for the rant :)
Can you hear me ranting with you all the way from Australia?

As someone who is moving right next door to a national park very soon, I would not like to see it happen. There are plenty of other places for that kind of thing.
I don't think that it's appropriate but I can see both sides of the story.
I am not sure that it is a good idea, after all you are invading the habitats of the native species and once lost there is no turning back. What often seems like a good short term solution can often have long ranging impacts.
Cattle - definitely not. THey have hard hoofs and do a lot of damage to the land and vegetation . Also they damage and churn up water -holes, not to mention leaving manure in the water, which makes it unfit for other animals to drink. Some horse riding could be allowed provided the riders were responsible and kept to the tracks.
It seems very inconsistant to allow it after killing the brumbies because they were doing damaging to national parks.
Even though a horse-rider all my life, I say NO!
The damage to ecosystem caused by either, is irreparable!
