It depends what kind of headache it is. If it's dehydration I drink a glass of water, and if it's a caffiene one then tea. I used to be hesitant to take pain relief unless it was really bad, but now I just take it before it gets bad. Otherwise it's too hard to get on with my day and not be cranky with the kids.
I had a bad one yesterday itself because I was on my computer for too long. I wait for hours before I take any medicine at all. I try water, lying down or some eucalyptus oil on forehead. If it doesn't work, I take a pain killer.
Depends on what's happening. If I have an appointment or meeting or something I'll just go straight for a panadol. Otherwise I'll try coffee, water, lying down, hot shower etc. At the moment I'm getting lots of headaches from the heat so I'm trying to drink lots of water as a preventative.
There are many different kinds of headache so the treatment should vary depending on what is causing the pain!
The most common kind is tension headaches, so no amount of water will make any difference to that. The long term treatment will be to tackle the cause of tension but in the short term, the best thing is some form of analgesia - not necessarily drugs as hypnotherapy is extremely effective for this.
If your headache is caused by dehydration then a glass of water will help :)
i used to get headaches after being in a room full of cigarette smoke , smoking is now banned in most places so no more headaches,
to cure a headache, any kind just get out into the fresh air and breathe deeply, a sure fire fix.
These days I take two paracetamol and my headaches go. From puberty until I was 35 I used to get migraine headaches and I would take anything I could get my hands on to help get rid of them……….and nothing worked. Migraine and tension headaches need VERY strong medication and, if they work, you are a very lucky person.
