Yes I have! I even belong to a Facebook group dedicated to unschooling - wonder who could be responsible for that?!
If I felt that homeschooling was the right option for my family right now, then we would definitely be unschooling. It just makes the most sense to me.
I have heard of it, and we use this approach, to a degree. I tend to refer to us as 'natural learners', and am finding it a gentle and interesting way to live. Some 'lessons' arise at unexpected and unusual times, and because they have a real life context, they are more meaningful.
Yes. Its a form of homeschooling where the child chooses what they want to learn and when. Some people teach reading and then let the child take it from there. It can work as a method of teaching children if the parents make resources available for children to use and give them some direction even if the child does not know it.
I've not only heard about it, I've been doing it for 7 years. It's truly amazing to watch the way kids learn. My teenager has learnt chemistry, and continues to do so with a fervour, and my 8yr old has just reached a quite competent level of reading.
Yes, I have. I love the idea of unschooling as it seems such a more natural approach. However When I first began homeschooling, I mentioned to my moderator that we were planning to unschool and she was very opposed to the idea. We have had a very difficult journey with our mod ever since.
